Hurrah, we have wifi access in the cottage! It doesn't work all the time but I can at least look at my emails and the forum.

Went to see my sister in law yesterday in Bovey Tracy and she asked if I knew anyone who could knit her a shawl if she bought the wool! I have a project coming up!!! Thought I might just make a large triangle like the Sands blankets, would that work? If not I could look at some patterns on the net.

The weather is fantastic and I have had a long swim in the pool today.
Hope all the Portsmouth girlies are well and knitting away happily. See you next week. Wish you were here as the saying goes :D

Lynn x

Went to Bovey Tracy today to get the yarn for the shawl and my sister in law has chose Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (she liked the soft feel of it) so it will be an expensive project, lovely to knit with however.

The woolshop in Bovey only opened last Monday and it was just like being in a sweet shop but I didn't buy anything although I was sorely tempted. They had wonderful carved head knitting needles and some of my favourite Knit Pro Symfonie ones too, lots of beautiful sock wools, pretty buttons, and lovely examples of children's jumpers dotted around the place. (I might just have to have a return visit later in the week) :P At present they are not doing mail order but they will post out anything that you require. The shop is called Spin a Yarn and the website is http://www.spinayarndevon.co.uk

Not sure if there are many Devon members but lots of people holiday there so it is well worth a visit!

.Snap, today I was thinking about knitting half a sand blanket as a shawl. The yarn I have might not be enough for much else. I cant see why it wouldn't work. Could be knitted with larger needles for an open lacy look. Or perhaps, one large needle, and one small.
Just thinking aloud, well in print. LOL. Have a Happy Holiday. I hope the weather stays nice. Off to look at the spinneryarn web site now.

The shawl is working out well Silver Surfer, I am not sure yet if I will fringe the edge when it is finished or crochet a scalloped border. It looks nice without either at the moment as knitting the first stitch and then increasing gives a neat edge anyway. At least with half a sands you can stop when you have run out of wool!

I am on a shawl at the moment too. 3ply and 721 stitches on a circular needle. I was enjoying it until I fell over on Saturday and sprained my wrist. It is strapped up, but the bruising is all colours of the rainbow and the swelling is going down. Managed a few rows last night after three nights of no knitting. Thought the end of the world had come.

The shop sounds just like a sweetie shop as you say Lynn. Enjoy your time over there.

Mag x :)

O Mag, sorry to hear of your tumble. That must have been so painful. Remember when we were kids and could bounce back. LOL. ? That’s the trouble when we get older, not built to fall. Those rows do sound long. What stitch are you using on the shawl? Does it taper? or is it square?
Just accord to me how do you type with only one hand? ..... mmmmmmmmmmmm

With great difficutly Pat, It is painful but I struggle along. My whole body is full of pain 24/7 so a little extra to add to my problems. I just have to keep taking the morphine, but get there.
The shawl is circular and can't describe it, but it has a lace pointed edge that is knitted on sideways at the end. I will put a pic on when finished.

Happy knitting folks.

Mag x :)
