"We have done it, this afternoon the Aberdeen & Shire group held their first meeting in Stonehaven. It was a beautiful day with exception to the wind and we 3 Musketeers or 3 wise monkeys were pleasantly surprised with 4 other ladies joining us and also the local daily newspaper came along too. With more publicity who knows what next. Tea and coffee and homemade iced gingerbread was enjoyed while we chatted and chatted. Unfortunately not a lot of knitting was done but donations of wool, needles, stuffing etc was greatfully received. We unfortunately didn't have our camera so watch this space for pics later. A nervewracking day, need a strong drink now.

Mag x"

We had an absolute whirlwind of a meeting and it seemed to pass ever so quickly - hopefully next time we'll get a bit more knitting done :)

As Mag promised here are the pics of the donations from this meeting:

Mag herself came with a fantastic amount of items - i don't know how she does it! 4 childs jumpers, 4 childs cardis, 4 preemie bodywarmers, 2 angel gowns, 2 hat & scarf sets, 5 adult hats and 1 boob. This is Mag's first boob and i'm sure it won't be her last :D Everything is beautiful.

Image

Mag's 90 year old friend had made 2 pairs of slippers/bedsocks and 1 pair of booties for us. What lovely work, we can't thank her enough.

I had made a couple of crochet animal blankets.

Mag even showed me how to sew my work up neatly - I hate the sewing up bit. So my homework for the next meeting is to finish sewing up 3 preemie cardi's :?

I'd like to say a big thank you to Mag and Elaine for all the hard work you both put in to make our first meeting a good one x

Roll on the 22 May !

Congratulations on your first meeting ladies. Your donations are lovely.

Here's to many more fun meetings and ever growing membership.

I do hope the Portsmouth group don't go down the 'homemade cake' route as most of us are trying to lose weight. It is hard enough trying to resists having a biscuit with our cuppa!

I would love to go down the homemade cake route... but like Lynn says we all have trouble resisting the biscuits... maybe we should have fruit this week ladies!

I'm still contemplating making some butter tablet though after reading the recipe book thread... but that will send my blood sugars soaring!

Thanks ladies for all your best wishes, congratulations etc, it was a super meeting, without you behind us and Alana and Elaine it would'n have worked. Sorry to mention the iced gingerbread again Lynn, it might be banana tea bread or date and walnut loaf next, depends how I feel. Knitting will have to go on back burner for three weeks as daughter comes home from Canada today for three weeks. It will be first visit for son-in-law and granddaughter 1 .5yr, a lot of cuddling and spoiling to be done.
Thanks for your support.

Mag x :D

Fantastic girls. Very well done on your first meeting and believe me your numbers will grow and grow. Sometimes the support comes from where you least expect it.

Everything looks lovely in the photographs. The article in the paper is great advertising for you - worked wonders for us over here.

Keep up the good work.

Look forward to reading about your next meeting.

Cherryl xx

Congratulations on a successful launch of your group. The newspaper article was great and it was lovely to see you in the photo. Hopefully you will get some new recruits from that. Anyway however many or few just enjoy yourselves.(With all that cake you can't fail to have a good time!)
Love Mad Maureen X

Congratulations on setting up the branch at Stoney. I had many childhood encounters in the outdoor pool at Stonehaven - it was so cold they used to give you a certificate if you went in swimming! hahaha

Abi - I have sent in a recipe for tablet for the recipe book, just to keep you happy

I think we should make it an unwritten rule that home baking is always very welcome at all LH meetings :0) If you knit faster you can burn off the calories afterwards :0) It just goes togethher doesn't it, great company, your favourite hobby, hot cups of tea or coffee and ..............cake !!!
