I thought I'd start a new topic for those addicted to buying wool. I am sure I am not alone. After reading about a 20% off wool at Dunelm Mill post here (today was last day!) I had to get a lift down town and see for myself.
My confession: Today I bought 3 balls of FAB DK rainbow colour (100g). They were priced at a very reasonable £1.25 a ball but when they went through the till they were only £1 a ball.
(I usually pay £1.99!!!)

I didn't buy wool today but I DID buy some on Friday and will again this Friday and probably every Friday after that - they really should close my local wool shop on Fridays. It's the day I do my food shopping and the shop is about 50 yards from the car park and, all the time I'm doing the food shop, I'm telling myself that I will NOT visit the wool shop but my feet just take me there! My excuse is that I have to go in there anyway to buy ribbon - I've been charged with making 150 wedding favours for my youngest son's wedding in August so I have been buying a few metres of the hot pink ribbon that I need every week! I wonder what my excuse will be after that?!

I have an admission to make - today I bought more wool. Not one or two balls 40 balls. My local wool shop was having a clear out and you could get 10 dk balls for £9.50, so I had to buy ten balls in the four colours they had in stock!! The only problem is now that I don't want to finish the hooded jacket I am doing - but I will settle myself and go and finish it because if I dont, I wont.
Nightmare!!

thanks to the online store section on here, I ordered some wool from Kemps. and on the same day had to pop to town, passed my local haberdashery (the nearest thing I have to a wool shop where I live), saw two 50g balls of Patons wool for a £1 in the window - and just had to buy two perfect 'boob' coloured (?) balls! better do some knitting with it now!
and cherrybee all I can say is 40 balls!! where'd you put all that?

My husband hasnt noticed or said anything yet. Some is stashed under the bed (pet hate but desperate measures), some is in the wardrobe, some is in the hall dresser and some in kids wardrobes.
I will try and crochet this up before I buy more. It isn't very often our local shop has a bargain so I had to take advantage of it!!
Thanks,
Cherryl xx

not quite 40 balls but my order from Texere came yesterday and contained 31 balls - 2 packs of 10 balls (one I quite fancy making something for myself with and the other some gorgeous merino to make something for my son), one of their fancy yarn packs which had 10 balls in this time and an extra ball I ordered just because I thought it would make some nice prem cardies . From having no wool about a year ago I now have a huge plastic crate and a big cardboard box full and I've taken to hiding it from my husband. oh dear. _________________

Well I have to confess that having had two donations of wool from my sister and having bought quite a few odd balls from the charity shop over the past few weeks I was very good today and didn't go into Hobby Haven in Inverness as they had a sale on and knew I would have to look at the wool if I went through the door. Never mind I can drool over the purchases you have all made and hope that you knit, some wonderful garments Dot

I can't go out this morning cos I'm waiting for a wool delivery! I've ordered two 10 ball packets of sirdar wool which look great for making scarves....will certainly keep me busy, not that I was short of wool to start with! Anyway, while waiting for the postman (he's normally here by lunch time) I'm going to try and finish a stripy jumper I've started - Quite proud of this one so I'll post a photo when its finished (just doing the collar now).

Just read all the posts re wool staches. Mine is in full view of hubby, in a large log basket - but he did comment last week that the level never seems to go down. I explained that the 'wool eleves' keep bringing the 'top up' each night so that I am never idle during the sports programmes on TV. So far he hasn't noticed the extra purchases on the bank account! When he does I shall say it's all for goods causes and it keeps my hands off the remote control.
My grandaughter has told me she wants to knit scarves so I've furnished her with some funky wool - don't know how long I shall have to wait for results as she very into horse riding.
It's great to 'talk' to other knitting addicts
