I made a pair of gloves yesterday - was stupidly pleased with myself

Must have made hundreds of pairs of mittens but this was the fist time I'd attempted fingers. Am making my sister a silvery-grey scarf for christmas and would love to make some gloves to go with it.

My prototype pair aren't too bad, so they'll be going into my first parcel which I'm hoping to get sent this week. Am really looking forward to getting everything in a box and sent up to Lou.

Well done Helen on managing the fingers and your 1st pair of gloves. A great achievement after all the mitts. Look forward to seeing them when Lou receives them and post pic on the forum.

Mag x :)

Congratulations on the gloves, and your first parcel. What else have you put in? It is a lovely feeling that our hobby it going to help somebody less fortunate. I bet your sister will love her Christmas present. Lou sent me a pattern of a mans slipover, it only took 400g of Aran type wool. And it seemed to grow so quick. My brother -in -law saw it and he has asked for one. I hope to start on it soon.

The pattern I'm using was my Granma's and it's clearly quite old. My Dad saw it the other day and he thinks it's the one she used to make gloves for him and my uncle when they were at school - and he's now 62!

See - the old ones are the best!
So much easier to follow the [patterns from yesteryear, none of those fancy words etc.
I can understand k1 p1, cast off and things but "bind off" sorry!!
Can't wait to see the gloves Helen and if the pattern is an easy one perhaps you'd share it with us oldies.

love, Barbara xx

Well done helen - I still haven't worked up to grown up sized mittens!
Were the gloves on 2 needles or dpns?

No, I'm no good with dpns either. Is it an online pattern with a link? *she asks hopefully*. Keep seeing things I think look great on knitting pattern central etc and then read the pattern and find they're dpns. Will have to get the hang of themsooner or later!

Hi everyone, I've found 10 patterns (including a fingerless) for gloves on two needles - I'll post them in the patterns section as well.
for most of these you need to scroll down the page to see a clearly typed version.

Thanks Pam for all those websites, I have copied the Poppleton pattern off the Cabbage Patch site as it includes gloves and mittens together. :D Dot
