Please can someone tell me are my poppies right

Just spent the last couple of hours trying to make poppies - I made a donation for a pattern from knitonthenet - did it but its very big has a centre of 2.2.5" so done the one Lou listed in the challenge - this is my second effort had a senior moment and read the shaping wrong - just hope it looks like it should do. It measures about 3" across

If these are ok will keep doing with them - they are nice and easy once you know what you are doing - I have not seen any pictures of knitted ones or have I missed them. Just wanted to make sure they sort of looked like everyone elses.
Thanks love to all

Grandmanita :D

Looks the same as mine, but glad you asked the question as I wasn't sure myself if mine were OK

they look great. I did the pattern Lou posted and I thought they were a bit on the large size so I am glad you posted the picture as mine looks the same in size minus the leaf. The leaf is a nice touch

Mine looks like that too ...minus leaf.
I have made about 6, using different size needles, and think I have finally come up with the right combination of needle size and stitches.

It looks like mine do - not sure if that helps or not

I've experimented a bit too as I couldn't get the hang of shaping using the slip 5 method, so now I do one row of K3tog to end, one row of P2tog to end and then a knit row - seems to work ok. I also found the black bit was coming out a bit large (my black wool is a teeny bit thicker than my red wool) so am now just doing 2 rows in the black instead of 3.

They're quite addictive aren't they?! I did ten over the weekend

Hi Grandmanita, what a lovely poppy, I haven't tried one yet but I will be well pleased when I do, it it turns out anything like yours. Well done.

I have just spent ages sewing on a clowns face, looks a 5 min job till you try it, but I am all happy now it's done. Just have to do the rest of the clown now

great to see you arrived safely - I hae my appointment to go the Sheffield now for genetic testing so will be on a train down there on 7th January - going down and up on the same day by train so have pre bopked the tickets already to save money - it will certainly be an experience - have only been on a train a couple of times in my life and never so far away! It will be worth it if it helps the surgeons to decide on my reconstruction xx

Enjoy your holidays Mag - hugs to George xx

Hi Lou, good to hear you are getting tests in January. They will prob find there is some sort of motor running 24 hours inside you which will account for your hyperactivity  Does your Health Service not pay for your travel expenses? I know they do here if a patient is referred to an other Hospital.Love , Do.

Apparently I should be able to reclaim the travel costs back from Fife Health Board Do - I will take the receipts in to them and see what they can do :0) They sent me for more blood tests this morning too - take it they need these results for my visit in January - I had to laugh at the phlebotomist - she said she had phoned them back to ask what on earth the tests were for as she had never seen them before and couldn't even pronounce half of them! It is horrible when I have to get bloods taken though - always at least 45 minutes of prodding and poking before they finally get it - never mind that's it over again and I am still here so onwards and upwards! At least with two four hour train journeys that day I should get lots of knitting done!
