Hello to you all. My name is Helen and I live on the borders of Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire. I have two grown up daughters one who has just bought her first house and the other is hoping to do the same by Christmas. I have been knitting for more years than I care to remember, more so after the girls were born. I work in a local farm shop and have been there over 15 years. 16 months ago I had a car accident and now have problems with anxiety, but find simple knitting does help me relax, so no fancy stuff from me just yet. Although I do remember knitting squares for a blanket in Junior school.

If you can knit squares you will do well here. We always need them, and just now we are all busy knitting squares in red or white or blue so that they can be used to make a great big Union Jack. (See the heading Autumn Challenges, I think ) for more info. Lovely to have you with us Helen. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful and we have lots of fun. We are a supportive band too..all for one and one for all as the saying goes. Sorry to hear about your anxiety. It can be most unpleasant. Hope knitting with us will help.
Love Mad Maureen X

Hi Helen, Welcome to Loving Hands. I just thought your on line name is “Perry” is that after the tipple? If so make mine a G + T. LOL. I have just tried to knit some babies bootees for the first time after a break of 25 years. And couldn’t do them, till somebody (D M) here gave me a very easy pattern. So like you I am working my way up again. A word of warning a lot of us joined to get down the stash of wool we had stored away. It doesn’t work!! We keep going out and buying more. So be warned. Good Luck with the anxiety attacks. It will take time but you will get there. I had my purse snatched 3 years ago, and I dreaded going out alone, for ages. But I can now. So try and stay positive. Hugs Pat

Hello Helen, welcome to LH. I hope the knitting & chat here will help your Anxiety attacks. Horrible feeling, had that when I was menopausal, at one time could not stay in bymyself & had to go out clutching someone. Takes time, we are always here to lend an ear if you need it. I find stuffing a knitted toy takes all thoughts out of your mind except being tempted to tear the toy to pieces. But I have a love / hate relationship with knitted toys so don't mind my remarks. Best wishes, Do.

Oh - go on Em - name names.......
Welcome to LH Perry, hope you get as much enjoyment from it as all of the rest of us.
Sorry about the Anxiety Attacks, I sometimes get Panic attacks, like when I had to go for an MRI scan, just couldn't do it. Eventually went further afield and had it done in an "open scanner" and it was fine. Why don't they all use these?
Take care and don't forget you've got a legion of friends right here on the forum.

love. Barbara xx

One of the ''nutters''( not my name for them) might be a bit more subdued now that she has joined a Gym. Hopefully she will be too tired for Blethering. But don't we enjoy their banter, carry on girls  I use the term 'girls' loosely.

Just as well, Grannydo. LOL. "Girls" some of us are mere spring chickens, some recycled teenagers, others are mad old crones. LOL. Now to work out which group you fall into. xx

To put you straight Silver Surfer, I waken up like an old Crone, feel like a Spring Chicken when I have finished an item for LH & am like a recycled Teen when I have bought a bag of new wool having gone into shop just for buttons, you cheeky SS, Do xx

Sorry Silver Surfer not so exciting. Perry is a river that I spent many of my childhood years paddling in. Aswell as sitting on on my ponies back when it had fever in the feet.
