Today was our first meeting at our second venue, Balgownie Community Centre in the Bridge of Don and we had a lovely couple of hours knitting, crocheting and chatting away. Of course we ate cakes as well

Myself, Elaine and Mag were there and we were joined by a lovely lady called Mary Middleton who crochets. It was lovely to meet you Mary and i hope you will join us at our next meeting.

Isobel also popped in to drop off her donations, on the way back from picking her daughter up from the train station and to show us her new Tunisian crochet hooks and book. Can’t wait to see how you get on Isobel.

I spoke to Susan who is in charge of the Community Centre about where would be good places to put up posters advertising the group and she suggested a couple of places that are usually more than happy to put up notices. I’ll go see them on Monday and hopefully we might be able to muster a few more members for the next meeting in July.

Here are the donations from this meeting.

From Isobel there were 3 preemie hats, 2 child’s jumpers, 2 dog coats and a blanket – these are lovely Isobel and the yarn used for the jumpers and hats is a beautiful mix of pastel colours – great work :)

From Elaine there were 3 pet blankets, 2 baby blankets, 2 larger blankets, 2 child’s jumpers, 1 baby cardigan, 2 preemie hats, 4 baby hats, 1 pair of mittens, 1 pair of booties and a beautiful little summer top – these are great Elaine and the little summer top is just gorgeous – well done :)

From Mag there was 1 cream sands blanket, 1 child’s hat and 2 scarves made from the Alpaca yarn that Janice (Bagpuss) sent to her. These are beautiful and so soft – lovely work Mag :)

From myself there were 2 pet blankets, 1 puppy jumper and 1 child’s cable hat. I really must pull my finger out and get more things made!

A lady called Moira Low had been in touch with Elaine and donated 38  knitted pet blankets! They are a fantastic mix of colours and the animals will just love them – thanks Moira it is much appreciated.

Mag has also had loads of donations handed in to her. One lady donated loads of blankets, how many were there Mag? Another donated two cardboard boxes with loads of old patterns, stacks of needles and loads of buttons, along with some trimmings, threads, needles & pins etc and 4 carrier bags of wool.

The third lady Pat Popplestone donated 6 brightly coloured crocheted lap/cot blankets, 2 child’s cardigans, a bag of material and bits and pieces. Thank you Pat. So Mag’s garage is at bursting point!

I really enjoyed the meeting and it was lovely seeing everyone.

Keep up the good work ladies, you’re all doing a fantastic job. Roll on the next meeting :)

What a great pile of donations. Good to see what everyone is doing as it gives you a shove to do more youself. I like the kids jerseys in the first pic, they look quite straightforward. Do you have a pattern for them?

I need to get cracking with my sands blanket and try to get it finished for going to kelty meeting on Monday. Feel guilty if I dont have something finished to hand in.

I know there is no pressure but as always dying to get started on something else.

Good luck with your meetings.

Jean.

That is the Oxfam jumper pattern Jean - like the one Kelly just finsihed but this one is done in stripes of stocking and garter stitch for effect. Think it is on our pattern pages already :0)

I can't believe how many items you have produced. They are lovely as well. A pat on the back to all of you....well done everybody. I am glad your meeting went well and I hope you continue to prosper.

It`s the oxfam jumper but it looked different as it was done in self patterning / random type wool so the colours make them look different to the plain ones. Really pretty.

Just edited original post to add in a photo, which Mag took today, of the donations from Pat Popplestone.

I bought the odd ball of wool, King Cole 250 grammes, and was going to make a baby cardigan but of course the back was fine but the fronts came out in "lumps" of colour. So I had to rip it all out and realised that the Oxfam sweater is ideal for self patterning wool.

The first I did had the front and back matching but because of a mistake the second one didn't. Sewed it up and I don't know but that I prefer the "wrong" one.

Isobel,
The oxfam jumpers are lovely, right or wrong, someone will be delighted to wear them. Apologies for wrong spelling of Isobel, corrected in the books now. Sorry folks, its the age.
Mag x :)
