Wow Clair - your stripey cardigan is beautiful. I'm so envious that you can knit and crochet so well. By the way, what are dpns? Assume this is a knitting term? I was trying to work out how you nearly poked your eye out carrying out this operation....although once I have knitting needles out every form of stabbing anywhere is possible!

Double Pointed Needles Lorraine - usually in a set of 4 for knitting in the round :0) Very easy to stab yourself with those - I must admit I hate them! :0)

Yeah, DPNS are double pins, double ended knitting needles. They look like cable needles but are longer and they usually come in sets of 4 or 5. You work with your stitches divided over 3 or 4 needles and use the spare one to knit onto. You can use them to knit anything circular such as socks, gloves or sleeves if you don't like sewing seams. It can be pretty tricky using that many needles and because they are open on both ends it is all too easy to drop stitches!

I've finished the little crochet cardie. I inherited a load of cones of 4ply acrylic from my late MIL. Amongst them was the cutest white yarn with glittery bits in it so I used it for this cardie.
I'm doing a FTC jumper next using up more of my inherited 4ply. I'm not patient enough to knit with 4ply though so I'm knitting 2 strand together. I'm halfway up the back already.

Hi Clair
What a beautiful cardigan. I am trying to learn to crochet but not very successful at the moment. I will keep on trying and maybe eventually I will be able to produce something as lovely as your cardigan.

I do, yes. Makes it easier to pick up the stitches for the neck then as you can count the markers each knit at end of row leaves.
I knit my 1st and last stitch on every row on everything I do apart from bands on cardigans. I only do it on the side that is being stitched to the cardigan.
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Sheenie. I will do that to then and see how it goes. Yes it makes perfect sense. No knit stitch on end of anything that is not to be sewed up. _________________ Ilona
