Got my parcel from Readicut this morning (finally as I ordered it on 31st December) I was so disappointed - instead of the £50 worth of stuff I was waiting for there were only 3 of the items in the parcel (amug, coaster and tray set, a cross stitch kit of the lord's prayer and 1 500g pack of Sirdar Denim DK with two free patterns) the rest of my order (Knit Wit throw maker, 1000g pack of Zhivago DK and 1000g pack of Patons Spirit Chunky) were missing and no refund or note to say what had happened to them (though they have already cashed my cheque. I have been right on the phone to them and they are refunding money for the Knitiwt and the Zhivago as they are sold out and now tell me whe the Spirit Chunky comes in stock they will send it. Not a very good start to my relationship with Readicut - their phonelines were ever so busy when I got through so guess they might have made a few mistakes with this sale. I am still going to order the knitwit again from the other company one of the girls on here found as it looks interesting (Lina at the Kelty meeting said she had a tutorial with the American lady who designed this thing and she told her that her grandchildren use it all the time to make blankets and things so hopefully that means it will be easy and fun to use! ) Oh well might go and look at Abakhan and Kemps again today to cheer myself up - I was really looking forward to getting the Zhivago DK - it looked nice :0(

That's very poor service! What is the knitwit? It sounds like what I've got but I'm not sure. Is it a knitting loom?

It is two plastic things which you use to create round or square motifs and then join them together to make blankets and throws - looked like fun on the site. Lina as had hers for ages but hasn't got the hang of joinig the daisy shaped motifs together yet so she is bringing it in next Monday so we can all have a look :0)

These are what I use. http://www.provocraft.com/products/cata ... &scl=looms which are great fun and easy to use.

Not sure if they are anything similar.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the delivery items after all that...

I got my knitwit today from the rainbow silks website that was recommended on here. I have only just opened it tonight and it comes with a dvd to watch so looking forward to having a go at the weekend as have lots of wool to use and hope it will be quicker for knitting lap rugs etc.

Basically you wind wool around what looks like a plastic clock face but it looks a little complicated without looking at the dvd. Will let you know how I get on with it!

Their website is www.rainbowsilks.co.uk and it's called a Bucilla Knit wit if anyone wants a look.
It was £10.76 plus £1.07 p&p so total £11.83

Sold out there as well now - apparently waiting for new supplies - hopefully they will get them as Readicut couldn't get anymore :0( Think all our members are suddenly going to be sending in dozens of throws ???

Oh thank you so much Ellie - how kind of you - Suzanne is going to give Kelly her one as well so we will both have new toys to play with soon :0) I am hoping it might be something I can manage to handle when I am 'joined' to my chest for the six weeks in the middle of my reconstruction - don't know if I will be able to handle knitting anything major during that point and I would go stir crazy if I can't get out and can't knit either :0)

Thanks again to both Ellie and Suzanne :0)

Hi Lou,

You're so brave Lou, you face all these challenges so well - still looking for things to do when undergoing your treatment - such an inspirationally lady!

Hi Lou, I have looked at the shopping website for wool and will be ordering some as it seems very cheap.

Kemps seems very good.

mcadirect.com was a bit more expensive.

Thank you kindly for the advice Tinkerbelle.

sorry about your bad experience with Readicut Lou, I'd put them in my favourites to get some things when I had more money but I won't bother now. It's my birthday next month so I was hoping hubby would treat me to a visit to Abakhan (haven't told him yet) :D

I order from Dianne's Knitting Yarns http://www.cpu-enterprises.com/index.html and always had a good experience with them - the orders don't take long at all to arrive and they have always had everything in stock that I've ordered.

They have a good selection of wools etc and patterns as well - I've just ordered some more premature ones to add to my stash - a bargain as they were in the discontinued section, and one of the patters was crochet too - don't get many of those!
