Morning Em
A wool-buying man is a rare and wondrous thing! Mine just moans when my stash gets out of hand - most of the time.
I think ally will have a heck of a task judging by all the poppy talk on here - there will be zillions! This has probably been asked before but do we need to leave a tail for ally to sew on the pins at all? Very glad to bypass the pin bit ....

Dear k2tog,
Andrew is good really, whenever he's at home he brings home wool and i don't like cut flowers and I'm trying to loose some weight which is impossible because as soon as i have a certain painkiller i am ravenous ,i could eat anything ,Tess (the dog) better watch out.So he brings me wool because he knows i love it .
I have prewarned Ally about the amount of poppies that may appear from all you wonderful ladies and all she said was yippee ,she is beyond happy with all your support .
I know I'm glad too about not having to put on a pin ( what's the betting i will be roped into helping with that one) .
As for leaving a tail if you can leave one that will help if anyone hasn't then it doesn't matter because we will have plenty of wool .

Lou asked the other day about what will happen to the flag after the exhibition has finished . Lou can i get back to you with the answer, Ally and her family have gone away for a few days ,they have been attending lots of functions to do with the rifles which was Wills regiment . So as soon as she gets back i will let you know.
thanks em

Hi Em - I bough a pack of little gold (looking) safty pins and just sew one on with cotton when I have finished sewling the little black bit on, then its finished - think you will have your work cut out sewing all the squares together - Will be wonderful to see when everything is finished.

(Just reading the forum listening to the new CD " The Soldiers - Coming Home " makes the hairs stand on edge - going now to make some more poppies - a little bit of help from me)

Love to all

Dear grandmanita ,
Thank you for doing the poppies and also sewing on the safety pins. No I'm not really looking forward to the sewing up part but it's for a good cause ( and i will make sure there is cake to keep us going ) and i can't wait to see how big the flag gets and also
how inventive people get with their exhibits.
I promise to take lots of photos of the whole process .Hopefully the exhibition will be traveling close to many loving handers so that they can get to see the finished product as soon as i have the information i will let everyone know.
Thank again for your support
love
em

Dear helenj
Ally had said that she would do the pin thing because she would get a big bulk order of pin backs.
It was mainly because she didn't want to put people off knitting the poppies because of having to spend time on sewing the pins on.
So you can sew pins on the back if you like or if you are like me because it does my bonce in leave it to Ally ,mind you i will probably be collared into that one too . I'm not really complaining a natter and cake , oh I'm quite looking forward to it.
love
em
Ps -are you one of the ladies that are finding the poppies addictive ,Because i'm hooked

Em - I have found a lovely lady who sells safety pins in hundreds and she has red and black ones 28mm size and said she would give us discount and free p+p if we buy from her so that might help with the worry about safety pins. We will try to make sure that most of the ones we send down are fully functional - but don't worry girls - if you don't want to put pins on I will buy some from this lovely lady and can sew them on while watching tv in the evenings before we post them down xxx

Great, thanks for explaining that em and Lou. I've put pins on the ones I've made so far as it's quite a quick job (well, the whole thing is really) so I'll see how I go with the next ones.

yes, they are completely addictive  , I HAVE to get some housework done this evening but I can see it turning into another night of poppy making. If anyone wants to come round and clean the house while I sit there and knit please let me know!

Hi Lou,
Thats brilliant about finding red- black safety pins and the lady will do a discount.
I know i am going to need about 2 hundred down here and how many do you think you will need. If you can work out the price for the lot i will send you up the money.
Hope it doesn't get too noisy tonight with the fireworks for the cat.
love
em
