 My lovely friend Mag was back down today for another visit from Stonehaven - she is desperate to get a group going up North in the Aberdeen area. We do have several members up there already - what do you think girls - any of you up for joining Mag for a meet up in your direction?

Mag's already PM'd me and i've told her i'd love to get a group up and running. So Lou if you want to give us some advice on where to start, we'll get cracking.

Lets do it ladies :)

I know we'll need a venue but i think we have to make sure they have some sort of insurance for us to be able to use it - is that right Lou?

Elaine i'm more than happy to head out to stonehaven, it's so nice out there, but what are your thoughts?

I know there are only a few of us just now, but i'm sure once we get going we can spread the word and soon gather a few more members.

Go for it girlies!

I do love the local meetings - it is a great way of exchanging ideas, patterns etc.

Best Wishes,

Cherryl xx

First step will be to decide on a venue - the other three groups currently going are all in Community Centres - these tend to be cheap and usually have facilities for making tea/coffee etc. You might also find a village hall or a quiet pub or hotel that wouldn't mind you using one of their rooms for meetings.

We normally charge each member attenidn meetings £2 each time which covers the tea/coffee and any hall charges - any extra is saved up for postage and spare cash can be used to buy wool etc for the group if needed.

Once you have decided to definitely start a group you can advertise for members and also join things like your local freecycle and ask for donations of wool, fabric etc for your group too. Abi and Cherryl have got this down to a fine art already :0)

Looks like I will be setting you up with an Aberdeen Area groiup part on the site very soon!

I will contact my friend Heather who is also in Aberdeen and let her know you are hoping to start a group up there too - she might be interested too :0)

Good luck girls!
