Well, we (hubby & I) managed to visit the Neonatal unit here in Aberdeen with the 2 very large boxes of "samples" which Lou sent up. First stop was the ward for `babies born asleep` where we met a lovely nurse who was very surprised at the size of the donation. She explained what sort of things they use on that particular ward and picked out the items which would be suitable. She was delighted in particular with the wee angel wraps and burial gowns, and told us that they prefer to use white or cream rather than pink or blue as, at that stage, the sex of the babies is very often not known. Unisex items are therefore more suitable, although a wee bit of pink or blue trim is acceptable. They don`t use knitted items at all on that ward, apart from the lovely little blankets.
Next was the Special nursery, for the premature tinies or ones who need special attention.
The nursery nurse was overwhelmed by the generosity of LH helpers. I was going to take the knitted burial gowns out of the box but she asked me to leave them, as they sometimes have wee ones who don`t make it and they don`t mind the knitted ones.

When we left, the nurse was going away to unpack the boxes and find out what other goodies were there - she`d found some sets of cardies etc and said they would be ideal for `going home`outfits. She was just like a child at Christmas. You can all be assured that the clothes made by your Loving Hands was very much appreciated.

Sorry if I`ve rambled on a bit, off to do some knitting for a while, and maybe have something fattening with my cuppa.

Elaine.

You certainly were not rambling on Elaine. It was really interesting reading your account and good to know that donations from L H are so well received.

Thanks for that Elaine - that is just the perfect sort of feedback we need - it is nice to know they liked the style of the angel pockets and burial gowns and great that the other ward were equally delighted with the other things I sent you - it lets me know that we are on the right track still - we so often get requests for things but no feedback afterwards - this way we can hopefully find a few more hospitals that did not respond to our original letters who also really do need our help - more powere to your needles ladies - whether single, double or attached to a machine :0)

Great account Elaine and you certainly weren't rambling on. It's good to know what everyone wants and needs. Hope you enjoyed your cuppa and everyone deserves something really fattening once in a while.

Molly

Thank you Elaine. I think you're brave 'cos I would have cried. I think we all appreciate hearing how things are received and how they will be used. It makes it all the more worthwhile and special.

 I`ve only had 20 recipes sent to me so far from 6 or 7 contributors.

ANY type of recipe is wanted, the more the merrier. Come on you newbies, don`t be shy, either pm or email me with your favourites - that goes for the `oldies` as well of course.

Ahem, haven`t got YOUR favourite yet either LOU - unless it`s floating about in cyberspace

Elaine.

Sorry Elaine - just not enough hours in the day to do everything I should be doing - I have been on at kelly too to sort out her amazing lemon cheesecake recipe (with no cheese in it - it is gorgeous and she makes it for the local group quite often - mmmm).

I will get it sorted asap - honest - I will also have a proper look at your quiz sheet too - it is a great idea and one we can either have for all the local groups to take out and raise funds for their groups or group wide for everyone to do their bit.

I have just been trying out some printed t shirts and pens with our details on which could also be great advertising - they look really good :0)
