PLEASE would someone send me the recipe for this apple cake - there is no way I could possible come to one of your meeting - but read and smile about the loveley time you must all have. Keep knitting with lots of apple pie !!!
From someone who eats around 15 apples a week chopped up with yogurt over.

Well I suppose I shall have to reveal my secret recipe at some time as there has been so much fuss over it!!!
It was passed on to me by my Mother-in-law some 50 odd years ago. Bless her she is now 100, still living on her own but unable to cook for herself now. I do send her a cake from time to time (and it passes her scrutiny too!)

You will need-
8ozs SR Flour
4ozs Marg or butter
4ozs sugar
1 egg
1lb apples peeled and chopped
1/2 tsp cinnamon optional

Rub the marg into the flour, add the sugar then the apples, add the beaten egg and mix well.
Put mixture into 2lb loaf tin (or similar).
Bake for about 1 hour Gas 4 180*C

It's as easy as that
- and delicious served hot with butter and 'snow' (sugar) on top!!!

As you can tell from my Daughter's comments, a huge hit with all my family!

Enjoy! :D

Another good way of eating this cake is to warm it in the microwave and have it with ice cream! This is what Chris and I had for our pudding last night and it was delicious. A real treat as we normally only have a yoghurt after our dinner but Pauline had made Chris his own little cake so we shared what was left last night. Mmmmm

I have just stewed down a bag full of apples that Pauline gave me on Weds night which is very nice served with yoghurt too.
