We had a great meeting as usual on Friday. There was Jean, Lena, Elaine, Rosie, Liz, Pearl, Mag, Barbara and myself.

It felt as if we had all just blown in from the “Windy City”, but a cuppa and a piece of Mag’s Iced Ginger Cake soon sorted us all out :D

Thanks to everyone for the lovely donations:

From Liz there were 55 beautiful coloured squares and 2 adult’s hats. You have been busy Liz - great work.

From Mag there were 5 adult’s hats, 1 child’s hat, 1 child’s T-Top, a baby’s crossover cardigan and two bags of goodies for the shoe boxes. Lovely work Mag, we all especially liked the little cardigan.

From Barbara there were 3 boobs, a Christmas baby hat, a selection of squares and a lovely circular blanket. Fantastic work Barbara.

From Jessie there were 8 pairs of baby slippers, 4 pairs of child’s slippers, 10 pairs of adult’s slippers and 3 pairs of bedsocks. Beautiful as always Jessie.

From a lady called Ella Robertson we had 3 matinee coats, 2 bonnets and 3 pairs of mittens. These are beautiful Ella, thank you very much.

From myself there were 2 preemie hats and 1 child’s hat.

Thanks for a lovely meeting everyone and keep up the good work.

wonderful donations and fantastic clear pictures Alana (iced gingerbread sounds yummy too!) - any news on how the show went? I am hoping the weather up there was good - we have had a mixed bag of sun and showers down here today. We are all very eager to find out how it went xx

Unfortunately we weren't able to have our stall as planned :( It was way too windy. Poor Elaine had lent her big gazebo to someone and all of the parts were not returned, so we couldn't put it up. We tried a smaller one but the wind nearly took it across the park with Mag holding onto it :? All of Elaine's family were there trying to help and a couple of guys from another stall chipped in as well but we finally admitted defeat and called it a day i'm afraid. We will of course hold on to everything and will hopefully find somewhere else we can hold a stall in the next couple of months. I'm sure Elaine will be on later to update everyone on what happened, once she's finished swearing at the people she lent her gazebo to

The donations are just perfect! I was AH-ing and OOOW-ing all over the place..and then I joined Elaine in the swearing dept. What a shame the weather spoiled everything after all your hard work. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT! I get a bee in my bonnet when I lend stuff out and they do not come home. It is thoughtless of people not to return the things they borrow. I am now much more savvy...I write down in my diary things I loan out and to whom they are loaned. Sounds like I am a miser but it isn't that. I have a list as long as my arm of things that were never returned and by the time I chased them up they were long forgotten. Hope you find another venue for your stall. Look on the bright side, maybe we can send more donations if you need them and then the stall will be an even bigger success!
Love from an older and wiser Mad Maureen X

What lovely things! Mag's t-top seems a much better shape than the pattern I've been using. Mag, if you have a minute, could you direct me to a site for this pattern, Thanks.

So sorry to hear this :(

Makes me feel better about Friday morning. The wind and the rain were horrendous. One or other and I would have set out to Stonehaven but both together put me in a bit of fear and trepidation.
I have a child's windmill in the garden and it took off :)
Windy here today too but I got on with using up the rest of my beige Aran wool. Now going to look for a more appealing (to me) colour. My Readicraft order not arrived yet.

Great work ladies :)
I was so looking forward to the gingerbread, Margaret, but I consoled myself with stovies, lol.

Isobel we thought the weather may have put you off. The wind was really blowing the car as i headed out and i was in two minds myself, but eventually got there safe and sound. It died down later that night but it was cold enough for snow during the day. You were right to stay at home with a plate of Stovies instead. Take care and we'll see you next time :)

The tailend of Hurricane Billy sounds as though it really hit you badly, we got the soft end of it down hear in the Midlands, but not so bad as you. Husband had to go down to the hangar to make sure the plane was well and truly tied down, he never trusts the other guys in the group to anchor it really well.

I'm sorry you couldn't run your stall after all your preparation, perhaps a pre-Christmas indoor event would be better, if you had cakes too to entice people along, that would really be good. My mouth waters when I hear everyone discussing their lovely baking!

It's been pretty wild up on the tops here in Yorkshire too. The rain has been dreadful. We had to stop the car the other day and wait for a lull in the downpour. You could not see anything. There was a long line of cars all waiting for improved visibility. I was expecting to see Noah!

The bit between Aberdeen and Stonehaven was what really made up my mind. I so hate the spray from the lorries and not being able to see what is joining from the side roads.

I finally got all my wool catalogued today and the stash beyond life expectancy is so correct for me. Oh well I can keep on looking. Will just have to resist taking it to the till :)

I'm making fingerless mitts from some charity shop wool I got last time I succumbed.
I got a Vneck raglan sweater and a hat and scarf from my two 400g balls of beige from Poundstretcher. Discovered I have 3 balls of the blue/turquoise Aran random and love the colour but wonder whether the sleeves on a man's round neck sweater would look odd?
Right I've talked myself into trying a sleeve and see what happens :)
