Hi everyone,
Ken came home today, after a week in hospital - a very scary week, as you can imagine. He's thin and tired, but he can walk without help now and he seems much more like his usual self.
Welcome to any newbies I have missed. You have joined a lovely, caring group, so happy knitting.

Karen

Oh Karen, you must be so pleased to get him home safe and nearly well, just feed him up and in no time he will be his old self again
Jean

How are all the invalids today? 4 days since the last post. So I hope they are on the road to recovery. Hugs Pat

Thanks, Pat. My invalid had a walk outside yesterday, once round the house in the sunshine. He's started to smile and make jokes again, and is getting gradually improving, though he has lost loads of weight. He has had apple pie and custard everyday for pud (for strength, you understand!), but I have warned him that this will stop when he is fully better!
Lou, I hope Jenna is much better too.
So glad to have joined this lovely group of caring ladies,

Karen xx

Jenna is on the mend too now - there are 15 down with it from her school now though and the roll is only 48 so that is a huge gap in the school population. So glad my knitting classes ended before it struck the school ;0)

So pleased to hear Ken and Jenna are on the mend we have had a few good frosty days up here in the Highlands, so hopefully it will kill off all the bugs, thing is though, Ron and I are going south at the weekend down to Shropshire and Worcestershire so we will be in the thick of the population. Good job we have had our flu jabs  Dot

Hi Karen - only just caught up on this post. So sorry to hear about Ken but relieved and pleased for you that he is back home. Making a few jokes is a good sign. You keep feeding him up and he'll be back to strength in no time. Make sure you get some rest yourself as you must be exhausted. Hope Jenna is much better now Lou. L

Oh dear Jenna was better and back at school since Monday but today I had a call that she was rather ill again and have had to go and fetch her - 9 other kids and her teacher were all sent home as well - looks like she was not over it after all when we sent her back. She has been wrapped up in a duvet lying on the two seater in the sitting room watching films with me all afternoon and evening - not like her at all she is usually into everything and singing constantly xx

Hope everyone is feeling better. We have managed to avoid it, and I have to go to the doctor on Tuesday to have my swine flu vaccination. I suppose that means I will get it - it usually does when I get a flu shot!

Smiles

Oh dear - it has been confirmed poor wee jenna has definitely got swine flu - her temperature spiked at 40 degrees today and she is now being sick as well - her poor wee joints are all aching and her head is pounding too - I do hate to see her like this but there is nothing we can do except give her calpol, lots of cool drinks and do all the do your best to keep infection from spreading things that the NHS have advised me to do. This also means I am not allowed to go into the hospital tomorrow for my dressing changes so the nurses will have to come here after work to do it instead.

Fortunately she is sleeping most of the time just now wo I have had time to go round the house washing down every bannister, door and cupboard and light switch with disinfectant - have also given the bathroom an extra wipe over with it as well and have left some in there so we can do it each time we are in - aint no germs getting past me now!!!!
