I was at the doctor today as I keep getting a recurring lump in my neck it has been really big this past week and I've been finding it difficult to move my neck so I eventually get an appointment when the lump has started to go down. Anyway the doctor said it is a sebaceous cyst and as it is bothering me he will contact the hospital so that I can go and get it removed. I'm not looking forward to that but I'll be glad to get rid of it as it causes me a lot of pain. The good thing is that it doesn't stop me knitting.

Lesley

I meant to add that Aaron did his sponsored lap on wheels yesterday all the children did well they did 3 laps round the school all the mums nearly got run over as there was a mad rush of children on scooters, bikes, tractors and one girl had a pair of roller skates it took her ages but she did really well. They all enjoyed it and there was tea and coffee and cakes for us after. They were raising money so they could buy toys for the children to play with outside I think they'll get a lot in.

Sorry to hear that Lesley. Will you have to stay in the hospital for a few days or can you go home the same day you get it removed?

That must have been fun to see all the kiddies wheeling around. I hope they get a lot in to buy loads of toys.

Hi Ilona

It's just a day thing they just give you a local anaesthetic. I don't know when it will be though it just depends when the hospital can fit me in.

Lesley

Good Luck with this Lesley - hope they can fit you in sooner rather than later. I have had a couple of lumps here and there and they've treated it in in a day under local anaesthetic. Luckily I had a private plan through work and was booked in within the next few days after seeing my doctor. Just as well before I got cold fee...I'm a real wimp but Nigel is good to me and looks after me despite my patheticness!

Hope the school raised loads of money - it's great when they hold events like these 'cos it makes it so much more fun in getting to that end goal.

Don't worry Do - you've got the right person....Chaarley is Lesley. Loads of the members on here use a "sign on name" - not sure what you actually call it in the computer world! If you look just above the big purply Chaarley....you'll see she sometimes signs off Lesley in the text.

I'm sure your sentiments are much appreciated. I didn't realise you were a nurse. They say they are the worst in getting themselves seen to....I take it the one on your back doesn't trouble you? Got to say that if any conditions I might have don't give me too much jip, I pretend they're not there! I'm a big wimp too!! I kept the lump on my finger for about 10 years...but it became so sensitive that it would send a shock up my arm at the slightest touch...even then I tried to pretend it never happened.

Don't worry about getting the names wrong it's easy to do. Thanks for all your kind words I would probaby leave it alone except that it is in an awkward place it presses on my nerves when it is quite big and is very painful. When I get it out Aaron wants me to ask them if I can have it home so he can see it.

Lesley

Dont know if this will ease your mind or not but I've had 7 sebacious cysts removed from my head. I didn't even go to hospital to get mine out, my doctor and the treatment nurse removed them in the health centre. I was in and out in 10 mins each time I got one removed. I didn't feel a thing, the only annoying thing was I couldn't wash my hair for 24 hours but the last one I got removed, which about 4 months ago, the nurser sprayed something on it and she said I could wash my hair within 12 hours.

I know its not easy but try not to worry about it and I hope this helps.

Hi Sheena

Thanks for that I just hope that when the time comes that the cyst is quite small as it can grow up to the size of a walnut. I don't want too big a scar although it is under my hair so it wouldn't really be noticeable. Also I am a bit of a bleeder so that is the main thing I am worried about it.

Hope everything goes fine Lesley.

That's good that you don't have to stay overnight at all. Will be thinking about you til it is over.

I got a letter today saying that I get my lump out on July 7. It's quite small at the moment so hopefully it won't grow before then. I'm supposed to take a dressing gown and slippers but as I don't have a dressing gown I'll just have to wear one of their backless gowns Embarassed

I'll take my knitting though as I may have a lot of waiting around.

Lesley

Not too long to wait Lesley, feel sure everything will go ok for you on 7th July and the knitting will keep your mind on something else. Very Happy Dot

How are you feeling Lesley?

Thinking of you but I am sure everything will go fine.

We should have a guessing game as to how much knitting you get done while waiting. Smile
