For those of you who may be wondering let me give you a few facts about Loving Hands. We are not a registered charity but simply a group of like minded people who have got together to donate items to charities. I have checked and as long as we are not actively fundraising or asking people for cash donations (and all of the groups we donate to are properly registered charities in their own right ) then there is no need for us to be registered ourselves. Doing it this way saves us from the expense of needing Bank accounts, accountants, committee meetings, making reports to government bodies etc (not to mention all the time that this would take up).
During the time we have been running we have had only one large donation which was from the Business Group in Glenrothes (£250 and some baby wool) - they asked that we spend the money on prem baby items so we did. We bought curtain lining fabric, lace, ribbons, thread, buttons and some satin material and spent what was left posting parcels to baby units in maternities in the UK. We also provided some premature baby clothes to one of their members for a 5lb baby boy who was coming out of hospital.
I will never ask any of you for cash for anything (apart from the voluntary contribution of £2 which each of us pays to attend local meetings - once we pay for hall fees and refreshments any extra is used for the postage fund) and wherever possible I will send out yarn, needles, stuffing, patterns, material etc to save you having to buy these things yourself. We are usually very lucky and get a lot of donations of these items from kind people who want to help us in our work.
Our aim is to provide the means for our members to be able to continue making things that will be appreciated by those who receive them. We try to make sure that every item is sent out to the best possible place and encourage our members to take part in friendly challenges to give them a feeling of belonging to such a nice group.
If any of you have any suggestions or comments we are happy to listen and will often add something new to the challenges or a new charity to the list at the suggestion of a member.
Now that has got all the stuffy official stuff out of the road I want you all to be happy here and to enjoy being part of the most wonderful group of kind hearted people you could ever hope to join.
This Forum has been such a Godsend to us and I would like to thank Pam from the bottom of my heart for setting up this and the website for us. Thank you Pam - you are a great lady and a great help to Loving Hands.
Have Fun!

Hi Lou
I am very proud to be part of the group even though I am a new comer and I hope that I will be able to contribute for many years to come. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou Lou and Pam and everyone else in Loving Hands. Although kept busy at work during the day and evenings I found I was not relaxing at home. This group has changed my life around and I really enjoy knitting instead of watching tv and am so much more relaxed in doing this. It is nice helping others and I enjoy the friendliness of you all on this Forum.
