 This was a great suggestion from Fiona (Fifiandhelpers) - she belongs to a guide dog network and they get the guidedogs up and down the country using a sort of relay system. The way Fiona suggested we do this here would be that each area in the country should have a central parcel person - people within their area who wanted to get things in to HQ could pass their completed work - along with a donation (say £1 or more if you have lots to send) this way the onus of payment would not land on the one person. Once a box has been filled the parcel person could arrange with Parcels2go to bring the box to HQ. What do you think? I did think that while trying to co-ordinate this process we might find more 'pockets' of members and maybe get more local groups :0) (Good luck to our Aberdonian contingent who are meeting up this week to discuss venues etc - looks like there will be another bit in the Groups News section before too long ) :0)

Love it Lou, Only the one drawback I can see - parcels2U don't pick up from France - which is a huge shame. Yet another fight with the ogre in the post office yesterday, two wee parcels away to you. Have a great day

Similar idea could work for you though Jean - if one of the French contingent is either coming over to the mainland for a visit or has a relative over there to visit them (by car obviously - we wouldn't want to weight down someones luggage otherwise) The others could get things to one central point for pick up and it could all come over together - either to be handed in to Portsmouth group or snet by parcel up to HQ :0)

I live in the Glasgow area and sometimes drive through near HQ on work if anyone wants things taken rather than posting them?

I am in Melksham, Wiltshire and I'd be more than willing to collect donations for this area if anyone is interested.

When I eventually make my mind up just which month this year I am going to be allowed to visit UK I will be more than happy to load up the car - its a bit difficult working out everybody else's movements to and from me - like the DH (work & Holidays) and the DS (holidays) and the DD and 3 DGS's (who live here BUT I get the 3 wee monster boys for a month during the school shut down) so I would immagine I get away by about September if I am lucky - ha ha

Hi Fiona,

I'm in Wootton Bassett, not far from Melksham. I am sending out a huge parcel to Lou (I've been collecting alot for Linda McDonald, making up for lack of knitting!) when I'm back from my hols. It's a pretty big box so far so I'm going to use Parcels2Go, hopefully it will be cheaper than Royal Mail, if there is anything you wanted to include. Would keep the costs down.

Let me know.
