hi Im kniitting one of those africa jumpers Aunt Rhona knitted but mine seems very big indeed, Ive followed the pattern with stated wool and needles. Was wondering if anybody else had the same. It looks far to big for a baby more like a toddler!

What beautiful things you knit Rhona and in such lovely delicate colours.
I seem to have a rather large stash of quite bold coloured 4ply and I hate knitting with it as it takes so long, so am now doing squares and such for the pets projects using two strands of wool and 5mm needles. It knits up quickly as it's quite chunky but not very delicate but I don't suppose the cats & dogs will mind. I wonder if they can see in colour??

Jacqui - I hope dogs don't see colour my very first parcel to Lou was a couple of dog blankets, not only were the colours awful it was my first attempt at crochet and there were more knots in the blankets than at a boy scouts jamboree..........I might progress one of these days.

I think they are great Rhona - Suzaane is ever so thrilled that so many of you are joining in with this - her dream is to help Emma get as many of these ladies supplied with their own sets of towels as possible :0) Keep up the great work :0)

Thanks all of you for your encouragement re Sands blankets.
I think I have it sussed. I am trying the two project method - at home I have a lovely bright sweater which I`m making for my four year old son and in the car is a pretty little zip up bag with my blanket in it, This means I knit it when I`m out and about, when hubbie is driving , in Drs waiting rooms, the DIY store , in all those situations when one doesnt have to think too much but there is so much time wasted.

Today we spent the afternoon at Disneyland and I knitted in while waiting for rides and even knitted all the way through the mad hatters teapot
much to my daughters amazement!

Hi Lou
Nearly finished my sands blaket, when I came to do the border it didnt work out right. So I looked at the Sands pattern and it seems row 9 and 10 of the border are the wrong way round. Hopefully it will work out ok now.Should have it off in the post Monday with a few other Items, great challenge by the way :D

that was why I posted the original pattern from the Ray of Hope website for you all - the lady from Sands apologised and said their pattern was wrong but they do not seem to have made any attempt to change it so far :0)

Have noticed in the last few days that both Cuddles and Ray of Hope are saying they have more than enough prem clothing and burial items at the moment :0) This is great really as it must mean most of the UK hospitals are well supplied - we usually just get requests now and again for top ups from Uk hospitals and most of ours have been going overseas recently - good job we have so many outlets for our wares :0)

Hi Lou
I have been talking to various staff at our local hospital here in Portsmouth and the head of bereavement services has said that they would be interested in some of our burial items. I plan to see her next week to understand what and how many she thinks they would need, but it would be good if we could help out.

Thanks

Abi

Brilliant Abi - I will hold back on posting out all our stocks until I hear from you - I was going to send the ones I have here to Isands in ROI and SANDS in England to see what they thought and if they would like us to give them more - it would be lovely if we could also support your local ones there in Hampshire (by the way we have sent a huge box of trauma toys to the ambulance headquarters for Hampshire while we were sending these out - wanted to make sure we spread them around the country and especially where we have either groups or 'pockets' of individual knitters:0) It wouldn't be fair of me to send everything to Scottish hospitals and groups when most of our members are outwith Scotland :0)

Thats fantastic Lou, I hope to see her either the end of this week or early next week and will let you know. Its good to hear we have some of the trauma toys heading down too. I'm sure they will be really pleased.

Thanks again Lou xx

Hi Lou, Do hope you are recovering well from your recent procedures. I am a GRANDMA !!!!!!! our eldest sons partner gave birth to baby Brooke last Tuesday. I know I am prejudiced but she is absolutely gorgeous, she wore Grannies cardigan home from hospital but I expect it will be "labels" from here on in !!!!! What with helping the new parents, major decorating in our bedroom, new curtains, upholstery and paid smocking work, not had a lot of time for knitting. However I would like to do a Sands blanket and am planning to take it with me to do while we are away on our narrowboat but the problem is we will not be back until the end of July, will that be too late for you to send off? Best wishes Archers Addict

OMG! I have just seen Lou's post saying that the pattern from the sands website is wrong! :x Which part is wrong, the border? Maybe that is why mine is not turning out like the others?

I have been using their pattern - I printed it off to take with me when we were away. Which part had the mistake?
