Another thank you email - this time from Sue at Sands - they sound pleased with our donations - have already sent two lots (40 and then 34 blankets) and collecting for a third :0) As Sue says if you like making them then keep sending them in she does need them xx

Hi Lou

Your box of 40 beautifully hand knitted baby blankets for Sands Precious Memory Boxes has arrived safely.

We are SO delighted to receive them and we are sure they will bring some comfort to a bereaved parent.

Please would you be very kind and put a Thank You onto your website for us? We could not meet this need without the time and dedication which your charity knitters have devoted to Sands project.

I am attaching a leaflet about Sands Memory Boxes which perhaps you might like to put on your website so your knitters can see how their blankets will be used.

For those who would like to know more about Sands and the Why 17 Campaign, information can be found on Sands website: www.uk-sands.org

If anyone would like to sponsor a Sands Precious Memory Box, cheques can be sent to Sue Hale, 78 Holme Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5DA. A complete Memory Box costs £12.50

It would be wonderful if your knitters were able to continue knitting Sands blankets in white - it is so sad that this project is ongoing as 17 babies continue to die in this country every day. Despite all the medical advances and modern technology, this number of baby deaths each day has not reduced over the last 10 years.

We are very grateful indeed that you are supporting Sands on your website. If there is any further information you would like, please let me know.

In the meantime, we send you our very best wishes for all the surgery you are undergoing and the continuing operations that lie ahead for you.

With our most grateful thanks

Catherine (Swain)

Group Services Assistant

Sands

PS I wrote this last week and thought I had sent it -
Now we have received another wonderful 34 baby blankets - that is just FANtastic - they are so beautifully knitted - what an amazing group you have and what wonderful work they do.....thank you so much

Hi Lou,

Sorry to hear you are in hospital again. Hope all is going well this time.

Sorry to be a pain but I posted a parcel on Friday 17th and forgot to put an SAE in it for you to send back. Hope it got to you OK as I used the Royal Mail online service - it's very easy; I weighed my parcel then paid the postage on line and printed off the postage label and stuck on the parcel. There were 3 large & 3 small animal blankets in very untasteful colours as I was using up stuff I was trying to get rid of, also 3 sands blankets and 2 fluffy eyelash scarves.

Happy Birthday for Monday - you only just 2 years behind me - remember you are as young as you feel.

Jacqui

Don't fret Jacqui - I am not 'in' hospital - the nurses came to the house to change my dressings to save me going in as it was my birthday :0) I had a lovely time with them in the morning then my family dinner at night and lunch with my mum today - I have been totally spoiled xxx

As you can see from the photo - this old lady went blonde for her party - gave the family quite a shock I can tell you :0)

Hi Lou,

Glad to hear you hadn't been in hospital again - I had been most impressed that your 'hospital' sounded so much fun - it's not like that where I work!
If the hat is anything to go by it looks like you had a fun filled day.

Jacqui

this is a saga that began when our dear Granny Do's huby Bob came home all excited and told her they were selling boobs in the local charity shop. Do went down to look and couldn't see any in the charity shop window but next door - in the shoe shop - were a pair of pink shaggy slippers with noses and eyes on - glancing in the window Bob had mistaken them for boobs - needless to say he has never been allowed to live it down. Do couldn't resist buying the slippers and sending them to me for my next hospital stay so we put a photo on the summer donations page to show you all and next thing our crazy mad maureen had decided she was going to design a pattern to knit a pair :0) Needless to say she has a waiting list of other mad members wanting a copy of the pattern when she is finished xxx

Hi Lou,

I know you are a very busy lady but I posted a parcel to you 1st class on 17th July and haven't seen one of your usual photo displays of donations since then. I did put a card in to say it was from me (Jacqui form Taunton) - please could you let me know if you received it?

Thanks

Jacqui

yes Jacui - it is here and safe and the photot is just waiting to go on - it was in the first pile of parcels we collected just after the challenge ended so I have a great long list to get on here now :0) Once I finish clearing out for the day I might find time to get the ones waiting listed so I can start opening the next lot which have been piling up since Tuesday :0)

you had been a bit quiet when the boob thing was on the go (doing your shawl I think). I wondered why my partner in crime had nothing to say! When slippers are finally done I shall dedicate one slipper to you and the other one to Do's husband Bob. 8)
