This is a fantastic array of goodies. I am amazed  at the talents of everyone in our group. Every time I look at the photos of the donations something takes my breath away. Well done to everyone who has just had their donations posted. Everything is fantastic! I may be mad but I appreciate talent and quality when I see it ! :)
Love Mad Maureen X

Sent two parcels today which I have been meaning to post for ages and have finally got around to doing now I am holiday and things are calming down a little bit. Unfortunately I forgot to stick a postcard to them to confirm delivery- whoops! But they do have my name on them as the return address so Lou will hopefully know they are from me.

It's great to see so many people's wonderful work- inspires me to knit faster and to buy more wool, though it now has spread across the house at a worrying rate...

Hehe!

Love and hugs

Jen

:P Here we go the parcels I opened up yesterday with grandkids and other motley family members and pets and friends milling about in and out - weekends - you got to love them don't you :0) Now that I am sitting here quietly by myself with oversized mutts snoring on the other couch and This Morning burbling away on the tv I can get my work up to date before I go to pick everyone up for this afternoons meeting :0)

There were two packages from our Bonnie Jean in France (roamininthegloamin) - she had been slaving away in the sweat shop in her barn and produced 16 bags, 25 ST covers and 25 ST pads - Suzanne is ever so thrilled with these donations Jean - I have passed the co-ordinating of this project to her as it is a project close to her heart so until she has the boxes packed and ready to go she will be able to make sure we have enough of each to make up the sets - her dream is to let Emma have enough to supply all of the women and girls in the area in Algeria she supports - more poser to your sewing machines girls :0)

Image

The next parcel which came from Jean Parratt (Jean has donated toys previously through her friend Teresa in Southampton) will also thrill Suzanne and Gladys - in this parcel along with 11 beautiful teddy hand puppets (I feel a collection for shoe boxes coming along nicely here :0) there were 3 wonderful antique baby gowns and an antique cotton night gown - it is amazing th eamount of work that went into these garments - when you think almost everyone had to make their own clothing - no popping into George at Asda to pick up some cheap and cheerful clothing for yourself or your kiddies back then :0) These are lovely Jean - I will take them to the meeting today to give them to Suzanne :0)

Image

From Elaine (Chas) there were 1 blanket, 1 shoulder wrap and 1 pair of bedsocks all in matching colours - these are great Elaine and don't worry you haven't missed the boat we donate to Blythswood every month as Eric brings the van to two local points once a month and Kelly and I meet him to hand over all the Loving Hands items and second hand clothing we have collected in for them :0)

Image

from Sandra there were 1 prem cardie, 3 prem hats, 1 pair of prem mittens and 1 scarf - brilliant Sandra these are lovely :0)

Image

finally from Kelly Canning we had three lovely baby blankets these are really nice Kelly thank you so much :0)

Image

Oops two other parcels on table - so have done these as well :0)

One from Chris Jones with 2 baby cardies, 7 kids hats, 2 baby bottles, 7 baby vests, 2 pairs of babies shorts and 1 baby t shirt - brilliant Chris - these are great - these will be perfect for the summer challenge :0)

Image

the other is one with no note or address on the outside - this one is from the OL16 postcode area and contains 4 teddies, 1 scarf and 6 prem hats - whoever you are these are lovely - thank you so much xx

Image

Right off to update the countdown for you all - we are doing well already :0)

The one with no note or address is mine Lou, I only realised that I hadn't put a note in on the way to the post office.
I'm just glad that the teddies are stuffed enough. The pattern says stuff firmly :? . I'm having a go at boobs now, hopefully get some off to you in a couple of weeks.

Do I continue with the whole deal or do you need more of inners than outers or is it bags etc? Have two great big brute industrial machines just waiting the off - OK so the barn is cold but I can sling on another jumper and keep ma simmitt on, just turn up the wireless and just get on with it. Jean, how come you have 2 big industrial sewing machines - just being nosy? It really sounds as though you have an interesting life. You're doing a great job.

Ella, Not nosey at all -early 90's I took volantary redundancy from Lloyds (spit) took the filthy lucre and ran. I did design at tech but was never allowed to use it as I was told to get a proper job.

I decided that although I had a couple of adequate machines and had been making posh wedding frocks and ball gowns as well as everything else I just decided that once and for all I was going to do what I wanted to do - so I blew rather a lot of dosh on 3 machines (one is an industrial overlocker)- never regreted it. Don't know if I will ever break even but hey what the heck, life is too short for regrets and doubts - isn't it?

It is a joy to use any or all of them and I can think of nothing better to fill my day, even if they are all in a corner of a very cold barn at present - one day I will get around to sorting it all out, they are near the french doors so when the sun is out it lovely. Mind you there is a conspiracy around here to keep me well away from any form relaxation and there is always plenty to keep me busy. Oh and French Telly is pants!
Love from France
Jean
xx

the photo of andreas donations must have been a 'nudge from the dogs job' - didn't have the heart to tell Kelly it didn't come out right - sorry Andrea :0(

Pol - so glad we now know who the parcel is from - I opened that one so was spared Kelly's 'Mutley' impersonation - it is quite funny watching her going through and over every inch of packaging that comes with a 'no note' parcel determined to find a clue as to who sent it :0)

Jean - Suzanne was over the moon with your creations - I gave her them this afternoon and she had them out on the table having a good old look see before I could say ST's :0) You can make whatever parts you have the fabric for Suzanne is co-ordinating the project from this end and will make sure we have enough to give each girl a bag ,two or three covers, 5 towelling pads and a couple of pads with waterproof linings :0). To date I think we have more covers than anything else so more pads might be the order of the day to begin with and watch the countdown page to see how the totals are going after that - any questions pm sue and she will be delighted to assist :0)

I have a lovely mental image of you in your barn machining away with the sun shining. You must be an expert if you make/made posh wedding frocks. It takes me all my time to machine pump bags, although I am a beginner. I find I hold my breath whilst I'm sewing, which makes it a bit difficult! I also agree French tv is pants!

Hi Jean - your set-up sounds brilliant. What a clever lady. I admire all you sewers and Suzanne with designing her own ST pattern. We're quite short in our family so I had to alter all of our clothes as there was no Petite and we didn't have a sewing machine so had to do it all by hand. Then, my Mum said I should get domestic training and sent me to learn dressmaking but was really slow as had never really got the basics. I think that's what put me off sewing for good...so really glad we have people like you and Suzanne. Keep your foot on the pedal!
