Take two................ computers

Wednesday nights haven't been the same since we started this lovely little group in Portsmouth.

Present tonight were Lynn, Molly, Marion, Pauline, Marilyn, Julie, Margaret and I. We missed Jean and Sheila and look forward to seeng them next time.

Molly and Pauline were back this week, and Mollys lovely home cooking too. She knows how to make sure I last until I get home, having always come straight from work...

The girls were excited to see the wool mountain, and bless them, all took home a few bags so I didn't have to carry it all up 2 flights of stairs to my little flat. My husband is relieved that we haven't got to squeeze it all in!!!

The creative juices were flowing with ideas for could be made out of them, and we've all got a few ideas.

Some lovely donations tonight, some for posting up to Lou... big box on its way this week Lou, some for our local babies and some more of Paulines amazing bags for the Rowans Hospice.

Great work girls and another lovely evening with you all. Thank you! :D

It was a lovely evening - but left me with a dilema - what shall I knit next?
A scarf in the lovely purple wool, some hats from the small(1000grm  ) cone of blue Aran, or something girly in the pretty peachy wool.

Mind you - I haven't 'smuggled' all of the wool in yet :D :D

It was a very lively meeting as always and the donations were great. I will get them photographed, put on the forum and then the box will be winging its way to Lou tomorrow.

Abi brought me lots more towels to make 'inners' for the sanitary wear so my dining room will look like a snowstorm in a day or two.

Thanks for the cake Molly, it was delicious.

We have enough baby things to give a very generous boxful to our local baby unit this month. I am sure they will be delighted with the pretty items.

Pauline continues to make more zimmer bags for care homes as everyone wants one! This week she made a wheelchair bag and Marilyn is going to test that this week so there may be more to follow.

So glad that the girls took lots of wool home and I wait eagerly to see what they make from it and very glad you didn't have too much wool to cart up your stairs Abi :D

Good to be back this week. As always a most enjoyable meeting - I feel so much better when I get home and all geared up to make the next item.
I don't know about anyone else but my arms ache, not only from carrying all the wool into the meeting and back to the cars, but from winding yards and yards of mohair wool into balls! Marion and I had a marathon wind- thank goodness for the wool winder I took in! I hope I'm not the one chosen to knit it up. AAchooo!
We all had good ideas. Now all we have to do is put them into practise.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting to see what has been :D made.
Keep knitting!
Pauline :D

Great meeting again last night and it was good to see everyone. Thank you Abi and Lynn for all the hard work in getting the wool mountain sorted out. I have managed to incorporate my recently bought wool into the bags of wool taken home last night so my husband need never know. Why don't husbands understand that we just have to buy more wool when we see it!!! grrrrr

Sue Andrews - if you are reading this you are very welcome to come to my house and choose some wool for you and your mum if you want to. There is certainly plenty of it!!!

I really missed the meeting last time and it was good to be back. Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you have time Lynn and I have made up my mind that I will actually do some knitting next meeting. That will make a change, won't it.

Molly

Very glad to hear that the girls enjoyed the meeting and choosing the wool. I have just taken the photographs and packed the box ready for the courier tomorrow. I need my OH to weigh and seal it, I just do the courier ordering on line! :D

Right here goes. I will go first with Margaret who made a lovely Sands blanket and 2 delightful little cardigans in lemon and white. She also bought two handmade cardigans from the Rowans fete to add to our bag for the Portsmouth baby unit. I mistakenly put the other cardigan on to Marilyn's donation photo, sorry about that.

Next is Marilyn's Sands blanket, Aids orphan jumper, fuzzy hat and 2 cardigans that she bought at the Rowans fete (plus the photo of the other one that Margaret bought)

From Sue Andrews we had 2 Sands blankets and 5 very pretty jumpers and she also sent a £2 donation to help with postage, many thanks Sue, much appreciated. Sitting with Sue's donation are Pauline's toys and some which were made by her daughter Sally (thanks Sally and for the tea bags too). Pauline also made 11 zimmer bags and 2 shopping bags which were for the Rowans Hospice so they went to Marilyn before I could take their photo.

Our Molly had made two baby blankets but didn't have quite enough wool for a Sands blanket so these will be going to our Portsmouth baby unit.

I made two baby blankets, and another pile of STs, in this photo is a lovely bright cardigan from Julie and a chemo cap from Abi.

And finally, my sister in law Eileen in Plymouth sent up no less than 80 outer pockets and lots of drawstring bags. Well done Eileen, very gratefully received and now that Abi has given me a load more towels I will make the inner pads and send them off next time. There were two children's bags for teddies too.

Thanks ladies, you have excelled yourselves once again. I look forward to the next meeting, you are a grand bunch! :D

Well done girlies for those marvellous donations.

It is great to see our local meetings going from strength to strength.

I am really looking forward to seeing the wool mounting being knitted or crocheted up.

Keep up the great work,

Cherryl xx

Hi everyone at the Portsmouth group! glad my knitted items were okay. Lovely to read all the posts about the Wednesday meetings and to see the lovely photographs of all the goodies! Molly thank you for your note about the wool at your house, I have plenty of DK & 4ply at the mo so will not need to take you up on the offer but thank you. Well I await to see what the new challenges will be - in the meantime I am catching up with some sewing! so much to do, so little time to do it... best regards to you all, Sue :D :D :D
