A smaller gathering last night, but fun all the same.
Marion and Sheila are both away and Julie was PTA'ing so present were Lynn, Molly, Pauline, Jean and Marilyn. It was good to see Jean back having been galivanting about for the last couple of meetings and it was great to see Marilyn return for a second time. It feels like we've known you for ages. :D

Molly has been busy baking again, and brought a tasty flapjack type cake... and she sent me home with the leftovers, which i'm going to have with a nice cup of tea in a minute whilst i enjoy a well earned afternoon off... (the calm before the storm...) with Paulines patchwork book.

Pauline has been busy and made 13, yes 13 :o zimmer and tote bags for the Rowans fete in July, as well as a lovely bag for me (thank you Pauline I love it :D ). As well as that she's made lots of sweet toys, and her mum and daughter have also made baby and toddler jumpers which will be in the next parcel.

Jean finished her lovely circular blanket, 9the hard work was worth it Jean, it is beautiful :D ). She's also made some lovely baby hats and a cardi, and a chemo cap for the Rowans too. The was also a pet blanket which is very nice.

Lynn as been very busy, and i think i speak for the whole group when i say that we are incredibly proud of her sewing achievements. :D she has made 26 sanitary towels... i know... 26... :o and all this from someone who hats sewing. They are very neat too. she's made 2 cute toddler size summer tops too, which are very pretty. Her sister in law has also ben busy making pads and bags and they are lovely. The bags are made from beautiful material she had aquired from an ingenious source.

Marilyn has made cute and trendy baby sweater and matching boots which are very funky... and also donated some dpns for the group to use. Thank you :D

Molly had made a crochet blanket for a pet, and they will love it. It is Molly's first crochet blanket, and its great. Well done. :D also a couple of toddler summer tops completed her donations one of which i'm sure is knitted with magic yarn!

I've had the sewing machine out and made a top and skirt for a child, and also made a set of sanitary pads. They are smaller than the specified size, but i think they will be ideal for a younger girl. The material they are made from, you may recognise as the Children in Need pudsey bandana, so its helped 2 charities at once. Yay. :D

I think i've got it all, apologies if i have missed anything - David Bailey aka Lynn  will be putting some piccies on later so you can all see what we've been up to down here by the sea. :D

Thanks for all your great donations ladies, and thanks for another great evening. :D

Hello Ladies

Now that Abi has done the bit about what happened at the meeting I thought I had better go and photograph the donations post haste! They have not come out great this time as the weather is so awful, hailstones and very dark, that I had to use the flash and it is not the same as sunshine for lighting. Never mind, you can see the items ok.

I will start with Abi's offering which was a very pretty pink skirt and top and so very bright and fun STs along with a denim bag to hold them.

Image

Next is from Molly, two pretty summer tops/dresses and a crocheted animal blanket. Molly wasn't very happy with the blanket but we thought it was an achievement seeing as she only learnt to crochet a couple of weeks ago. I am sure the animals will be very cosy.

Image

I managed to make lots of pads despite having a hate relationship with the sewing machine and knitted a couple of tops/dresses too. I had to make my step son a neckwarmer for his motorbike in between which held things up for a day or two.

Image

From Jeannie there was a crochet baby jacket and some bonnets and hats and two blankets, one was a bright and cheerful one for animals and the other was a beautiful circular baby blanket. Jean had some problems with this one regarding the curling edge but sorted it out with a crochet border which also made it look even prettier.

I have tried three or four times to put Jean's donations on but it seems not to like that particular photo. I will put the last photo on, log out, restart my computer and try and edit it! I will not be beaten at this stage :D

Hurrah!!!

Pauline had been at her daughters the week before and brought some donations from herself, her daughter Sally and her mum, thanks to all of you, great items as usual.

And finally, my lovely sister in law Eileen in Plymouth has been busy making lots of pads and very pretty bags to keep them in. Very pretty fabric.

That's all folks. I was going back to pad production but the sewing machine has jammed solid and I now have the bottom off but still can't see where the problem is - you just don't have this sort of problem with knitting, and don't get me started on the mess you get from all the little bits of towelling and thread..... I shall just have to sit quietly and play solitaire on my Nintendo DS :D Mumble mumble mumble.

Great donations girlies. Everything looks great.

I am stuck at the moment as I don't know what I feel like crocheting. Think I am gonna turn to the Nintendo DS as well - game of Boggle sorts everything out!

Well done everyone, keep up the hard work.

FANTASTIC!!!!! And Molly your blanket is brilliant. I an still struggling on with my crochet. I do need a one to one session rather than just video links and images. I nearly know the dialogue word for word on the videos!
How come all you busy people find time to bake as well?
Love Mad Maureen X

Thanks Abi for a great meeting as always and Lynn for putting on the photos - it's lovely to see everyone's hard work and we are so lucky to have such talented people.

It was good to see Pauline and Jean back from their respective travels and hear their news.

Maureen - the baking is therapy at the moment and it really depends what I have in the house as to what I make. My crochet blanket looks okay on the picture but does not hold up to close examination. I think I need to practice more and of course it is so much easier to pick up the knitting needles and start knitting. Anyway, don't give up with your crochet - you will get there in the end. :)

Molly

Hi Abi
I have today finished a 'SANDS BLANKET'. The completed square came out a bit misshapen with two sides longer than the others! but once I had sewn the edging all the way around the blanket it seemed to correct itself? wondered if anyone else had this problem?
Sue :D :D
