My latest work-in-progress. ---- I am stuck. I am knitting this T jumper. And I have put a pattern on the body. Which only works from rib to shoulder. Now I read you knit from front rib to back rib. But I will have to join back to front somewhere… any suggestions Please. Silver surfer. Xxxx thanks you lovely lot

I think if you check the pattern you will see that when you get to the 'top'
you cast off enough stitches to make the opening, then in another row you cast them on again?????????? then you are knitting the back downwards.

Hope that makes sense. I was just looking at the pattern yesterday.

Yes, that is how I read the pattern.
On doing so now the 2-colour pattern I am using is now upside down coming down the back.
I am now thinking of casting off, all along crossed the shoulder and neck edge. Then knitting a front and sewing them together. I will try and take a photo of the knitting pattern, and then you can see why it would look wrong upside down. My DH said the tots that will wear it will not care!! That will teach me not to try to be so cleaver. Thanks for your help. SS

Hi SS,I think what I would do would be to knit back and front separately. At the top of each piece (neck opening) cast off 21 sts then place a marker, cast off 26 place marker, cast off 21,this would show you exactly the sts you need to join for shoulder.Hope this helps

Sorry I have tried 3 times to show you the pattern. But I can't get it to work. That’s a good idea to make each side of the neck opening. Thanks S s

Is it possible for you to knit the pattern upside down,
just a weird idea.

Hi Silver Surfer

If you are using red and blue stripes for instance and you finish with a blue stripe before the rib section at the top of the front, once you've done the rib section at the top of the back you need to start with a blue stripe so that when you fold it over the stripes will match.

E.g. Front - Red Stripe, Blue Stripe, Red Stripe, Blue Stripe, rib top section for front, rib top section for back, then Blue Stripe, Red Stripe, Blue Stripe, Red Stripe.

Does that make sense?

I'm on the downward side of one of these and forgot to write down how many lines of each colour I did on the front....could be interesting
