My how we grow!
Another meeting and another new member.

We were joined this week by Margaret, a friend of Marilyns, and obviously a very skilled knitter. Since Thursday last week she has almost completed a fantastic Sands blanket.
:D It was great to meet you Margaret, and I hope you will join us again. :D

Along with myself and Margaret, was Lynn, Jean, Marion, Julie, Sheila and Marilyn. We missed Molly who has a special visitor this week, and Pauline who is visiting her daughter.
:D Look forward to seeing you next time girls! :D

Everyone has been busy bees since last time and Lynn could hardly get everything in the huge bag she uses to take donations home in... and that didn't include her own either.

Lynn (aka. the seamstress) has rattled up more pads on her new sewing machine, about another 25, and some bags for them to go in too. As well as sewing, she has made 2 beautiful baby cardis. There are no end to her talents! :D

Jean has made a pet blanket and some gloves. :D She did make us laugh, when she said the cat/dog would need to be colourblind  you'll soon see what she means.

Sheila has made 2 hats, 2 jumpers and a blanket and they are FAB - U - LOUS :D

Marion has been a whizz with the needle and sewing up a huge blanket made up from squares I found via freecycle, and also buttons onto a cardi I finished off last time. She's also knitting lots of squares for another blanket and doing fantastically well. :D

Julie has made 2 summer tops, a blanket and the cutest pig. Big AAAWWW! :D

Marilyn has made a very special Sands Blanket, in memory of her grandson, some of you may have seen her recent post, and it is beautiful. So much love has been put into it, and I'm sure a few tears too, and the result is fantastic. :D

I've let the side down a bit with a prem baby hat, most of which I knitted at the last meeting  but all the girls have been very sweet. I'm been a 'bit' busy with work, and have hardly knitted anything. Roll on 3 weeks off in August... plenty of knitting time then, so it better be a great Autumn challenge Lou!

We missed Molly's homemade delights, and had to make do with some biscuits I bought in the garage on the way... they were healthy though... they had oats in them...

We all had a good laugh at a book Lynn brought in of some very strange but true names... Most of the ones I remember were not repeatable!!

Another great night, and look forward to the next one ladies. Well done and thank you for all your hard work. :D

Love Abi xx

bag looks fantastic girls - what a great idea - these would be wonderful for a lot of our elderly 'service users '. Do you have instructions to make rhem or was it something she designed herself ? I am sure some of our other stitchers would have loved a go at making some of these :0)

Pauline just makes them up as she goes along depending on how much material she has. If she only has a scrap then she makes it a bit shallower and without a pocket for instance.

It does look lovely and I wil be posting another photo of some lovely ones made with wonderful birdie fabric and the rest of last Weds donations. (I have to take the photos yet) I used Photobucket this time as I had no luck with Image poster and Maisie suggested another site and it wouldn't let me register at the moment for some reason. I will give it another try over the weekend.

My friend is the envy of all of the residents in the Care Home. If the bags don't all sell at the fete then I will take them to sell at the Home, and give the money to the Hospice.

Her other bags are wonderful too.

I found these last night when browsing ... they aren't a patch on Paulines, but may give you an idea of the pattern.

I have just posted a phtot using Maisie's tinypic link and it didn't ask me to register - I just clicked browse - downloaded my photo - resized to the size for websites and emails - did the upload and then copied the url and pasted it in after the Img bit that appears on here when you click the wee b box above this posting box. It worked so I canmaybe now get the rest of these photos on at last!

Hurray, it worked for me this time.

These are some more of Pauline's bags that I gave to Mazzy for Rowans Hospice last Weds. There are three zimmer bags and three shoppers in the great fabric that Abi was given. Don't they look great. :D

I'm, afraid those bags won't be going to the Rowans........but £25.00 will!
I had them in my car yesterday and was at a Meeting. One of our friends had seen Nellies Zimmer bag, and asked if it would be possible to get one for her Mum. I took the bags to show her, and was amazed to find other people wanting to buy them.
I couldn't very well refuse, and I know they will be well pleased at the Hospice.

That's wonderful Mazzy, I bet Pauline will be well chuffed to now that her work is so much appreciated and requested and Rowans will be delighted with the donation. As long as they get funds for the hospice it doesn't matter which way it happens. I bet those ladies at the meeting were thrilled with the bags, as we all are.

Pauline, you are a star and as you know you have earned your dubious nickname of 'the bag lady' Hope you had a good week with your daughter and will see you soon.

The name and reputation of Loving Hands is becoming very well known in Portsmouth now, and it is great to support some local causes.

Well done ladies!

Hey thats fantastic well done Pauline for your fantastic bags :D , and thank you to Mazzy who has been our link to the Rowans. :D

As the Rowans relies on charitable donations, I'm pleased that they are having help from us, and I'm sure it will be on a regular basis now.

And here are the donations from the Portsmouth Group :D

Image

The above lovely items were from Sheila. The tops were in very pretty wool which had a pearly thread through the lilac.

Jeanie had made a colourful pet blanket, two pairs of mittens and a crochet chemo cap which is on a group photo a bit further down. On this photo is a Sands blanket which was lovingly made by our Marilyn.

Image

Marion had sewn together the colourful blanket from donated squares and added buttons to one of Abi's little cardigans top left. I made another couple of cardigans and lots more sanitary pads. Pauline made me 8 drawstring bags for them and I even made a couple myself in gingham as I have a nice new sewing machine :D

Image

This photo is a bit of a mixture and a bit of duplicating too, serves me right from taking photos different weeks. The piggy was made by Julie, the little cardis top right are from Marilyn, the crochet chemo hat in front was made by our Jean, the tiny pink cardi and hat are from Abi and the other two cardis are mine - again, sorry about that.

Image

Next, and lastly, we have Julie's donations, a blanket some summer tops and a jumper. (If I have got any of these wrong Abi, please correct me and I will edit the post)

Image

All the donated items were beautiful as usual girls - well done.

I wish I could be as slick as some of the other local groups when posting donation photos - I do seem to get myself in a bit of a tangle at times.

Wonderful donations as always everyone and I am sure it was a great meeting as always Abi. The photos are perfect Lynn and very much appreciated. I missed you all last meeting but hope to be back with you on the 8th all things being equal. Still plodding away at a Sands blanket - all I seem to be able to do at the moment.

Molly
