Bumper night tonight... easily our busiest i think!

Tonight, we had the company of Jean, Julie, Molly, Sheila, Margaret, Marilyn, Greta, Lynn, Sue, Pauline and new member Sally. Sally found us on the UK hand knitting association site, and we're so pleased that she has joined us.

Molly and Pauline brought us some lovely cakes - Molly's were scrummy butterfly cakes and Pauline brought a tasty pumpkin pie. Both were just what i needed!

Everyone has been busy... and I have to say... there was a lot of red, white and blue in progress...

Lynn will be kindly putting pictures on later and you will see the wonderful donations. Pauline has kindly made each member a bag with their name on for their donations, which means that Lynn can take each bag in her own time, and not worry about who's done what! Great idea Pauline, thoughtful as always.

Star of the night was 'home member' Sue and her mum. Most of us have yet to meet her, but she regularly sends down a bag of knitting with Molly. Tonight we had a large bag full, which included a fantastic clown that Sue had made. She had just finished it today and got it to Molly to bring along... just wait until you see the pictures. :D Thank you Sue (and mum) x

I think we may have a clown theme to our meetings, as Pauline has also done several, and new member Sally was eying up the patterns  ... and i have a feeling our other toy expert Julie will be having a go at one too  . She made a beautiful cat which she brought along tonight, as well as some other items. :D

Marilyn never fails to make us all laugh, and tonight was no exception. Pauline started her off with a pom pom wool scarf... and as she has several balls... i think it may end up to be about 20 foot long as she cant work out the cast off/on.

Most of us have had a go at the poppies, though probably not to many in the pictures as some have been taken home to sew pins to, and they are all excellent.

Great night ladies - you never fail to make me smile. Thank you :D

Thanks for a great meeting Abi. It was lovely to see everyone and our new lady Sally. There seemed to be lots of beautiful things as always.

There will be a lot of photos but as my DH is on holiday this week and we are going out days here and there they probably won't be on till tomorrow I am afraid. I am hoping that they post ok this time as even putting them all into a word document first and then copy and pasting threw up lots of misaligning problems. The old board was much easier :(

Great evening last night, lots of laughter and nattering and Jean showed me how to crochet a poppy which I will try out later today now that I know what I am doing (I think). Lovely to meet new member Sally and many thanks to both Molly and Pauline for the lovely cakes.

Thankyou ladies for a great evening. Good to see Abi back and to meet our new 'recruit' Sally - I hope you enjoyed it. We are a mad group at times but quite harmless!
There did seem to be an awful lot of Royal blue knitting going on - all in a very good cause, and of course the usual laughter.
Looking forward to seeing you all again with some more wonderful contributions. (especially the bobbly scarf, Mazzy!)
Well done everyone.
Pauline X

Hello all
Thank you Abi for the kind comments about the clown, at times I thought I would never finish it but then I thought about the little child who will own it one day and pressed on with renewed energy!
The meeting sounded great fun, and as for those delicious sounding cakes - I'm sure I put weight on just reading about them!
Can't wait to see all the pic's.

I believe congratulations are in order to Abi? There is an article in the Portsmouth News this evening accepting an award from NHS - well done Abi!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Oh blast - one day I didn't get The News - will have to go online.

THE SCARF!!!!!!!
I was doing well - just started on the 3rd (and last) ball of bobbly wool when somehow I managed to lose 3 stitches off the end.......it was impossible to pick up the stitches, so i have had to unpick it all......but I did manage to start it off again ( tried to copy 'the patience of Pauline)......I'll give it one more chance

Here are the photos ladies.

I have grouped them together as the fewer I have to upload the better now.

In this first one Greta made a scarf, baby blanket and pretty hat. On the right Marilyn made a baby blanket, a scarf, two hats and some squares. Both donated charity shop items that are in another photo later on.

Image

Then we have Sheila's work, two colourful blankets and three Oxfam jumpers

Image

Next we have another batch of lovely toys from Pauline and also a blanket and two hat, mitts and scarf sets.
Image

A combined photo here. Julie made the cat, poppies, hat and some squares on the left, Sue C made the blankets in the centre and Abi made a blanket, a hat, an icecream cone and some squares.

Image

On the left is my contributions, in the centre is Jean's work and on the right is Molly's work.

Image

Sue A and her mum sent along this lovely clown, two men's slipovers, lots of hats and two lovely teddies in bags. Thanks once again ladies and also for the postage donation.

Image

Margaret made this beautiful baby blanket and some hats and squares.

Image

And lastly this is the photo of some charity shop finds from Margaret, Greta and Marilyn.

Image

Fantastic donations again ladies, well done everyone.

Another struggle to get the photos on again, I don't know how the other groups manage to do it far better than I do but if you would like to look at the photos in a larger format then please click onto my Flickr page to see the Portsmouth group donations.
