We do not like wasting money in Yorkshire either Lou! I hate paying over the odds for anything.

I checked out Parcels to go and it would cost me near enough 90 pounds to send a 3 kilo parcel. :(
Will have to keep looking for one that is cheaper than our PO. Til then PO it will have to be.

At that price it would seem to be as cheap to get an Easyjet flight over here and deliver your parcel in person! You could overnight here!

Just checked from this end and collectio from Uk going to Germany or France is just over £20 for up to 10 kgs but coming the other way it jumps to £87 - weird! Might be worth checking out couriers from Germany itself as DHL is a UK based firm :0)

I checked too Lou, so sending little parcel via the PO, but may have a RED VAN MAN this is a fella who lives an hour or so away from me and he is looking into how much to charge me for larger box/weight, he does a trip back to the UK at least twice a month - he says, will await the answers he gives me prior to loading up big boxes.
Jean - perhaps some sun later then?

Have just used parcel2go for the first time. The service was excellent and I will definitely use them again. I send parcels with donations from my Mum and Aunty Elaine so it isn't difficult to get up to a decent weight. May now just send one parcel for each appeal rather than several smaller ones. Better get on with knitting to fill up the next parcel!! Thank you to the person who suggested using this service. This forum is great and so full of helpful ideas.

I've got two boxes (the same size) that I was going to tape together. the combined size/volume is still within the limit - is that ok? Or would that count at two parcels?

Great - that's what I was hoping for. Will tape them up tonight and see how much space I've got. I can always fill any gaps with a few bits for the shoeboxes.

Just got to find the tape-gun now....

Obviously it is cheaper for you to send it all in one box Pat so if you have space to store it till the end of the challenge is nigh then by all means do it that way xx

Just read all your messages about parcels2go.com, but i have a problem, no printer to print the label off. Our main computer and printer have gone to the computer heaven!, and we have no printer with the lap top. I too think its cheaper using this service than just sending a few things at a time. Is there anyone in Lancashire near me in Rossendale? Then perhaps we can share a box or something.
